These exceptional rose diamonds are in their original gold settings that were attached to a modern 14k chain. The diamond section was taken off of a large 19th century gold brooch which had Russian Hallmarks. The brooch had soft solder on the back which could not be removed effectively, and in addition it just wasn't very practical to wear, so I had it converted to tassel earrings listed in my shop and this beautiful necklace.
The rose cut diamonds are exceptionally clean and bright. I do have a video which I couldn't seem to attach to this listing but I might be able to attach to a correspondence. It is on my IG. The top diamond has a groove in the top right corner which I photographed. That diamond is not perfectly symmetrical, however when louped it appears that it was cut that way, likely to retain its size. The diamonds appear to be eye clean. Speaking of clean, since they are open backed there is no fear of ruining the piece by getting it wet, and it can be gently hand cleaned. I never recommend steam cleaning for these antique pieces, but a soft paintbrush and dish liquid cleans it beautifully. The pendant contains well over a carat of diamonds, but it has the look of having much bigger diamonds due to the spread of the rose cuts. Rose cut diamonds are flat on the bottom and have domed tops. Due to less facets, they exhibit a more subtle antique sparkle!
The chain is 18" in length but can also be worn at 17" since a ring is present an inch from the end of the chain. This piece is so easy to wear and a real eye catcher! You will never see another like it! I love how it looks like an exclamation point, so appropriate for this piece!!!
