These flirty foxtail fring earrings will be the highlight of your holiday outfit! During the mid Victorian period, the jewelry was big and bold to compliment the heavier fabrics of the day. The earrings feature black tracery enamel other wise known as taille d'epargne, which was accomplished by making shallow engravings which were them filled with enamel. Enamel is powdered colored glass which must be fired at high temperature to metal, usually gold, silver or copper. The earring surface is hand chased and covers the entire surface, as was commonly done during this period of decorative embellishment! The lever backs are not original, however the fanned design mirrors the one in the earring.
