This pendant/brooch is a fine example of Victorian era gold smith work. The wire and beads were meticulously soldered to the matte gold surface. What makes this example especially unique is the contrast of the high polished gold. It measures 1 3/4" including the bale. The bale tucks neatly underneath when worn as a brooch. Since I don't know if the pearls are natural, they are listed as cultured. The chain is not included. This would look good on a foxtail, rope, wheat, or an antique looking chain. The bale and 14k safety clasp were later additions. The gold at the bottom of the brooch has some patina which could be removed. The top does not have patina since it was later worked on to add the bale and clasp. The piece has a weight of 7.7 grams, giving it a current scrap value of over $330, however this piece is not scrap and the scrap price doesn't take into account the hours of Craftsmanship that went into this fabulous piece. Overall, it is a beautifully constructed piece of jewelry with detail which is difficult to replicate today!
