During the Georgian period, there were many motifs in memorial jewelry including the funerary urn. This delicate little ring features an urn-shaped head with hair beneath a tiny polished crystal cover. The urn shape is outlined by tiny half seed pearls and faceted jet. The hand chased decorative shank is typical of the era. There is a tiny chip in the upper left corner of the crystal, but it is in otherwise remarkable condition for its age of over two centuries. This is not only a very rare relic of the early 19th century, but it is also very wearable in the present time! It is approximately a size 5 and could be sized by an experienced jeweler, preferably with a laser.
