Georgian Miniature Pendant Brooch with Elaborate Jargoon Frame

This gorgeous circa 1810 pendant also can be worn as a brooch. It's use of the dark background is indicative of the French style of miniature portraiture. The subject matter is especially dear. We call it "Hiding in the Hollyhocks", and it was likely given by an admirer of the wearer. Note the Neo classical garb worn by the lady. This style was prevalent in the late 18th century in France. The frame is also exceptional, and is encrusted with white zircon stones which are often mistaken for rose cut diamonds. In antiquity they were called Jargoons.
