Early Victorian Tiny Seed Pearl Pendant with Foiled Lavender Stone

This wonderful pendant features the tiniest seed pearls strung on white horsehair attached to a mother of pearl plaque. One has to wonder how the holes were drilled into pearls so tiny! This piece may have been part of a larger parure which was split apart to divide it amongst several daughters. It appears that a silver backing with four prongs was added in order to make this piece into a pendant. The central stone which is likely quartz is foiled backed with silver and possibly tinted to achieved the lovely pinkish purple coloring of the stone. The stone feels cool to the touch and the facets are still crisp, leading me to believe it is quartz as opposed to glass. What is unusual is the surround of tiny gold faceted beads. I have not seen this before in a seed pearl piece from this era (circa 1830s) and I have no way of testing the metal. However there is no verdegris to suggest that they are brass. The pendant measures 1" in length not including the bale. There is one pearl missing at 6:00, which may not be immediately apparent.
