This beautiful circa 1920 ring has newly re-tipped platinum prongs and features a 1.22 carat Old European cut diamond of L color and VS 1 clarity. Although the diamond is L in color, it appears almost a blue white in sunlight. This is due to its strong florescence. In diamonds which are whiter on the color scale florescence is not an advantage and may make them appear slightly cloudy, but this is not the case with this diamond. Fluorescence is a naturally occurring phenomenon which causes a diamond to glow when exposed to UV light which includes sunlight. Old European cut diamonds of this size often feature fluorescence and very good clarity as this one does. The cut is very antique and has a high crown and chunky facets. The ring is platinum and has fabulous detail, with light wear as expected of antique pieces of this age. It has appropriate wear for a ring of this age and do note that rings of this era were not heavy cast pieces. This is truly an antique lovers ring!
The sale will include the appraisal for insurance purposes. The replacement value is $9500.
