This sparkly brooch with a celestial theme was made in the late 19th century and has chunky mine cut paste stones! Although it was used as a well loved theme throughout the history of jewelry making, celestial motifs were especially popular during the late 1800s. This lovely example measures approximately 1 1/4" in length. Although unmarked, it tests to be 10k gold but the pin stem appears to be a different metal, perhaps steel. This was done for stability. The gold is a pinkish tone due to the copper used in the alloy. It could be worn on a chain as shown, or converted by your jeweler into a pendant. The pastes are in good condition for their age with slight wear to the facets when viewed under magnification.
